Block ads and banner ads: what is the difference?

Block ads run in the search sidebar; banner ads run on the homepage. They have different plan requirements.

There are two ad formats, and they behave differently.

Block ads

  • Appear in the sidebar of the community search page
  • Require the community to be on Featured or Premier
  • One per community
  • Approved automatically — they go live as soon as you save, and you can edit them any time

Banner ads

  • Appear in the rotating slider on the homepage
  • Require the community to be on Premier
  • Reviewed by us before going live

Choosing between them

Block ads reach people already searching for communities, so the audience is further along. Banner ads reach everyone landing on the site and are better for broad awareness. If your community is on Premier you can run both.
